M Davies MICHAEL DAVIES
Director
Michael qualified from the Welsh School of Architecture in 1985 and subsequently spent several years working upon a number of Crown Estate projects in London. Completing a two-year postgraduate Diploma in Building Conservation, in 1990, he subsequently formed Davies Sutton Architects with Kevin Sutton in 1993.
In addition to managing many of the projects completed by Davies Sutton Architects, Michael is also responsible for the sustainability aspects of the companys work, successfully integrating this with the companys ethos generally withstanding the sensitive nature of these sites generally.
Michael Davies regularly lectures on Conservation and approaches to design in the historic environment, as well as writing and presenting through public media. He has previously presented Discovering Welsh Houses for BBC TV, together with writing a book on the series.

K Sutton KEVIN SUTTON
Director
Kevin qualified from the Welsh School of Architecture in 1983 and subsequently spent 6 years in private practice before forming his own practice, Kevin Sutton Architects, in 1988.
Increasingly becoming involved in repairs and alterations to historic buildings generally, and recognising the need to acquire the specialist skills required to competently advise in this field, he completed two year post graduate Diploma in Building Conservation in 1993. He subsequently formed Davies Sutton Architects with Michael Davies in 1993.
In addition to being responsible for many of the projects completed by Davies Sutton, Kevin is also a member at the Llandaff Diocesan Advisory Committee, advising on the conservation and alteration to many of South Waless finest Churches.

M Plageman MICHAEL PLAGEMAN
Associate
Michael Plageman qualified from the Welsh School of Architecture in 2005 and joined Davies Sutton Architects in 2003.
Michael has been responsible for several major projects completed by the practice, this role being recognised by him being appointed as an Associate of the company in 2010.
He has recently completed an MA in Architecture, the main focus of which was the impact of UNESCO world heritage sites on UK communities, is an active member of the RSAW South Wales Branch, and is responsible for all IT elements of the Davies Sutton Architects.

J Lockwood JAMES LOCKWOOD
Architect
James joined Davies Sutton in 2008 before qualifying from the Welsh School of Architecture as an architect in 2010. James has subsequently been responsible for a number of major projects within the office, within both the private and public sectors.
He has exhibited his work at the Welsh Senedd, and is an vice-chair of the RSAW South Wales Branch.

D Carver DAVID CARVER
Senior Technician
David studied Architecture at the University of Brighton until 1975, subsequently studying theology before returning to architecture in 1982.
Since joining Davies Sutton Architects in 2000 David has led the technical side of the office, and generally is responsible for managing the production information on a wide variety of our larger projects. Such projects range from new visitor centres with Scheduled Monuments to extensions to Leisure centres and Schools. In contrast, he also provided the technical expertise and drawings relating to the highly sensitive repairs and restoration currently being carried out to the unique grade II listed Animal Wall in Cardiff.

P Giles PAUL GILES
Architectural Technician
Paul completed his RIBA part 1 qualification at the University of Plymouth in 2004 and subsequently spent several years working in general practice, together with pursuing his other interest in outdoor activities.
Since joining Davies Sutton Architects in 2008 Paul has worked on a number of projects, increasingly specialising in work to historic buildings and particularly focusing on their consolidation and repair. As such he has worked closely with Cadw, local authorities and various other consultants, including ecology experts and other specialists.

J Lawley JAMES LAWLEY
Architectural Technician
Following several years at Cardiff City Council, James joined Davies Sutton Architects in 2007 and qualified as an Architectural Technician from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff in 2009.
James work at Davies Sutton has been deliberately varied to provide as rounded an experience as possible. This ranges from the measured survey and production of existing drawings for St. Woolos Cathedral in Newport, to being responsible for the planning and construction information for the conversion of a grade II listed church to form a new training HQ for NoFitState Circus. More recently James has produced the technical details for the £1.25M renovation of Gilfach Y Berthog, a Grade II* listed house and which includes significant contemporary extension.
James is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.

R Stevens ROB STEVENS
Architectural Assistant
Rob Stevens qualified from the Welsh School of Architecture in 2007 and remained at the school for two years as a lecturer on the BSc in Architectural Studies together with studying part-time for an MPhil on Urban Mapping. Following 6 months at Gaunt Francis Architects, he joined Davies Sutton Architects in June 2010.
Since joining DSA Rob has worked on a variety of projects throughout South Wales, and is currently completing his RIBA Part III studies. In his spare time Rob is a member of Project-Ten, an emerging gallery collective of ten progressive artists and designers whose work is exhibited across Cardiff. He is also involved in a collaborative arts consultancy research project exploring the potential of dormant dead end streets in Grangetown, Cardiff.

J Bagwell JOANNE BAGWELL
Practice Manager
Jo joined the practice in 2005. She is the first point of contact and plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of the office. She ensures everyone is up to date with comings and goings of the company, as well as co-ordinating events and diaries and personal business of the team.
