Chiswick House
London

Grade I listed and a Scheduled Ancient Monument, Chiswick House is the first and one of the finest examples of neo-Palladian design in England. Inspired by the architecture of ancient Rome and 16th Century Italy, the third Earl of Burlington built the house as a homage to Renaissance architect Palladio.

Never intended as a private residence, the house remains a bold architectural experiment now used as a showcase for art collections and a venue for entertaining. However, a survey undertaken during 2009 revealed that elements of the cornice and render at high level were

failing due to water ingress and presented a danger to the public.

Through their term consultancy with English Heritage, DSA were appointed to eliminate water ingress from the roof and parapet guttering, whilst simultaneously carrying out repairs to the decorative cornices and chimneys. These works were carried out in consultation with the ‘Friends of Chiswick Park’ to meet a strict programme of events, whilst simultaneously ensuring the building's extremely valuable contents were protected and secure via advanced security arrangements.
